Hot Tub Time Machine - FC Halifax Town
The reformed and reconstituted FC Halifax Town play out their non-league promotion fairytale between an unworthy pair of box goal nets.
But jump in the old Hot Tub Time Machine and we see the Shaymen knocking Man City out the FA Cup in front of a set of A-frames modelled on - what do you think? - Manchester United's?
Then, jump 10 years further back we see the old Halifax beating Man United with what may be the same stanchions, just painted black?

Hi Tony, Can I recommend Harrogate Town's Wetherby Road?
ReplyDeleteUntil the end of 2011/12 season, the ground used a great looking set of A-Frames to support the nets. Unfortunately from this season though they have decided to go for the very boring box-nets.
As I said on your post about Bradford, you'll be really pleased to know that 3 Scottish clubs, Stenhousemuir, Airdrie United and Alloa Athletic have recently reverted from the boring old box nets to the Continental Ds, though Alloa in September decided to do a Macclesfield and make a box net with the Continental Ds still attached, though the box net is a very shallow one. Stenhousemuir also during the 90s used to have really weird, almost rectangular Continental Ds.
Keep up the good work!
Hi James, thanks for your insight. The Halifax post came from scouring the Conference, looking for not just a bit of variety but a pair of A-frames. So we'll be sure to check out Harrogate. If we find a clip on youtube we'll post it to the Facebook page (or if you have a clip already, why not post it on the Facebook page for everyone to share?). We'll keep our eyes peeled too for the weird D's at Stenhousemuir. All the best
